Author, semi-retired from business in 2018. A variety of experiences over the years including director of the information systems group for Beatrice Foods, Chief Financial Officer and Board member for the Association of Manufacturing Excellence (AME) and President the Cumberland Group in Chicago for 28 years (global consulting company). Served as adjunct faculty for the University of Chicago’s Graham School for a 15 year period and also served as a senior mentor at a new business start-up incubator focused on manufacturing (mHub Chicago).
Awards:
• 2016 Shingo Prize Research Award for How to Do a Gemba Walk
• 2019 recipient of the Mac Mcculloch Life Time Achievement Award from AME.
Written four books. Last one was ":How to Do a Gemba Walk" - 2016 Self Published, also available in Spanish "Cómo Hacer un Gemba Walk" – 2020 Profit Editorial
Trying to finish one last book, tentatively titled, “Learn to See the Invisible” a practical approach for better leadership practices.
Current activities:
• Serve as a volunteer V.P. for the Association of Manufacturing Excellence Award activities
o Manage a network of 50+ volunteer assessors
o Led site visit team to Malaysia 2022
• Moderate Global Issues discussion group for Dominican University’s OLLI program..
• In first year of retirement managed to travel 120,000 miles which was kind of interesting.

Moved from Chicago to San Francisco area to be closer to grandchildren. My wife and I are currently very much enjoying life.
