Welcome to the Evolvepreneur (After Hours) Show

I am your Special Host Richard Wray

Join me today where we dig deep with our guests and get you the best concepts and strategies to fast-track your business.

My very special guest today is Cherie Mylordis ...

Cherie Mylordis is the founder of nextgenify, and a Sydney-based work futurist, speaker, transformation and innovation coach, on a mission to help organisations reimagine the world of work for a better future. As a founding member of Accenture’s global change practice, with extensive expertise spanning strategy, complex change, agility and innovation, Cherie has a deep understanding of the challenges facing today's leaders. Cherie credits her five years working on the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games with shaping her approach to purpose-driven leadership and collaboration on a massive scale. She is now on a mission to empower future-fit workplaces to Work in 3D - a transformative approach to business and leadership.

Key Moments:

  • Cherie started in computer science but transitioned into change management, working on large, complex projects like the Sydney Olympics.
  • Cherie found that many people feel unfulfilled at work and not able to do their best work due to constraints like unclear purpose, bureaucratic culture, and poor work environments.
  • Cherie's research found that only 1/3 of leaders felt they were doing their best work, even if they were good at their jobs, due to systemic constraints.
  • The pandemic has led to the "great resignation" as people seek better work-life balance and don't want to return to old ways of working.
  • Cherie developed a framework called "work in 3D" - Discover your purpose, Dare to ditch outdated ways of working, and Dial up better ways of working.
  • Empowering employees, giving them autonomy, and connecting their work to a larger purpose are key to enabling people to do their best work.
  • Cherie has seen organizations successfully transform by clarifying purpose, removing unnecessary processes, and adopting more collaborative, agile ways of working.
  • Adapting approaches to local cultural norms is important when working across different countries.
  • Leaders need to let go of power and authority to enable their teams to thrive and succeed.
  • The key advice is to reflect on what you care about, what you'd love to influence, and then make changes to ditch constraints and enable better ways of working.
